Nature of Business: 4Sight Media Relations is a diversified public relations firm based in New York City whose area of media specialty includes but is not limited to recording artists, special events, television, and motion picture personalities and other corporate and individual projects that require unique entertainment industry experience. I became an entrepreneur because I wanted full control of my career. I started 4Sight Media Relations nearly seven years ago after I was laid off from my position as Director of Publicity at Loud Records after Sony absorbed the company. When working at a record label, you're assigned projects. Owning my own company has given me the freedom of selection and has opened up PR opportunities beyond music into fashion, restaurants, event planning and other media avenues. A whole world of PR beyond entertainment would have been completely inaccessible to me if I had continued working within a record label.
The most important lesson that I've learned is that in life we are born with primary colors and you have to learn to blend your colors to experience the full value of all the hues of a rainbow. I've also learned that you have to understand who you are as a part of this universe. I'm not defined by my title or my job. Some people get caught up in egos and titles in the industry. I understand that outside of what we do, we're all people who want to be treated with respect and kindness and I offer that to my clients and my media contacts.
I want to encourage you to reach for your dreams and live with an openess to life. We all have aspirations for greatness and sometimes it takes a dramatic change of life to propel us towards our dreams. Build your career around things that you love and the energy and enthusiasm that you bring will open doors that you never knew could open. But live with an openess to life because what you think you should be doing may not be ultimately what you're destined to do. For example, you might think your goal is to be an actress, but somehow you have an natural talent for cinematic lighting and photography. There's a reason why certain things come to you more naturally than other. Reach for what's naturally you, the inclination is in itself a revelation.
